Invisible system of collecting elections 2024 results has been established: ECP


ISLAMABAD, Feb 5 (SABAH): Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that invisible system of collecting elections 2024 results has been established. The election management system will work in both situations offline and online.

On February 8, the entire nation will be seeing towards the ECP. There is no restriction on presenting invalid national identity card for costing vote in general elections of 2024 as the real issue is of identity. Server room has been linked to the satellite. All the international standards have been adopted.

Secretary Election Commission Dr. Asif Hussain and other officials expressed these views while talking to journalists at Central Control Room. They also visited server room and other elections related facilities. Project Director Election PMU Colonel (retd) Saad, Spokesperson ECP Haroon Shinwari and DG IT Khizar Aziz briefed about the important information.

While responding to questions, ECP said that there is no restriction on presenting invalid national identity card for casting vote in general elections of 2024 as the real issue is of identity and using right to franchise is right of each and every Pakistani which is why no hindrance could be created in this regard. For sorting out complaints, different systems have been established. Some issues are related to the administration.

On this occasion, Haroon Shinwari said that state-of-the-art central control system has been established. For the first time they are using WhattsApp, he said and added at provincial level, under the Centre, four control rooms have been established. In 32 divisions, control system are working, he said. Most important point is that in 144 districts, system of supervision has also been established, he added.

Elections outcomes will be received through election management and this system will keep on working until and unless the results are received, he said. He further noted if the system remains off or on – in both situations the system will work.

He said with regards to internet, a safest system is working and offices across the country have been interlinked. The complaints will be dealt with during the 24 hours, he said.  He noted they are in continuous contact with monitoring teams and added different channels have been adopted which is why they could be contacted with any channel. He said they have been monitoring and receiving complaints since Dec 26, 2023. Till now the monitoring teams have taken 625 notices.
