Int’l community should help & assist the Afghan citizens on humanitarian grounds: Sheikh Rashid


ISLAMABAD, Nov 29 (SABAH): Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed says trade barriers between Pakistan and Denmark would be removed.

He was talking to Ambassador of Denmark Lis Rosenholm, who called on him in Islamabad. During the meeting the high officials of the interior ministry and Denmark Embassy were also present on the occasion.

He emphasized the need to cement relations between both the countries and also discussed other issues of mutual interest including bilateral relations. Sheikh Rashid said that the international community should help and assist the Afghan citizens on the humanitarian grounds. He said that Pakistan assisted over 100, 000 Afghan citizens evacuation from Afghanistan. He said that it is feared that due to the lack of resources human crisis can take place in Afghanistan.

The Danish Ambassador said there is a need to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade and tourism in the bilateral relations between the two sides. She wished for lasting peace in Afghanistan and valued Pakistan’s efforts. She said that bilateral “green agreement” between Pakistan and Denmark will be signed soon.
