Inflation & load shedding have become nightmares for masses, making them sleepless: Sirajul Haq

KARACHI, July 18 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has said that inflation and load shedding have become nightmares for masses, making them sleepless.

Addressing public rally in connection of Sindh local government election campaign in Kemari on Monday, Sirajul Haq said those who ruled the port city for years were responsible for its problems.

Sirjaul Haq was on two-day tour of Karachi to participate in the Local Government election campaign. On the concluding day, he also visited the residence of Dr. Aafia Siddique (currently in US imprisonment) and Dr. Fowzia Siddique residence to express condolence on the demise of their mother. He said the late mother of Siddique sisters waited for a long time that the rulers would fulfill their promises and bring back her daughter from American jail. But, he regretted, the leaders of the political parties who made tall claims for repatriation of Dr. Siddiqui during election campaigns could not even bother to visit the ailing lady to inquire after her health after coming into power. “The rulers of Pakistan have long been deceiving the masses but they would no longer befool the public now.” The educated youth of Pakistan, he said, wanted real change now.

He said the JI leader late Naimatullah Khan laid foundation of mega projects and completed many of them during his tenure as Karachi nazim of the port city. But, he added, the successive governments after him desperately failed the keep the momentum intact rather it destroyed the already built infrastructure of the metropolitan. The PPP, he said, was ruling entire Sindh for 14 years and the MQM enjoyed power at federal, provincial and city levels for decades but they did nothing for the betterment of the city and 25million its residence.

The people of Karachi must choose the JI candidate for mayor on July 24 to bring back the lost glory of the city, he said.

He said the PML-N, the PPP and the PTI could not deliver despite being in power. It was because of the rulers that country lost its half part, he said, adding Pakistan was inching towards crises with every day passing. He said the politicians must show seriousness to end the prevailing crises.

“Masses must think who is responsible for their plight and they should reject the tested parties in Sindh local government elections.”

Sirajul Haq reached Lahore late night and will preside over the “national dialogue on economy” at local hotel on Tuesday.
