Individualized treatment plans for epilepsy patients highly beneficial: Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui


MURREE, Feb 25 (SABAH): Pakistan Epilepsy Foundation President and noted neurophysician of the country Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui has said that individualized treatment and management plans for epilepsy patients are highly beneficial because the needs of one patient are different from the needs of another patient.

She was speaking at Epilepsy Mini Fellow Network EMF 2023 event at the PC Bhurbhan in Murree.

The event was organized by Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui organizer from AKU Karachi, and attended by Dr. Muhammad Wasay, Dr. Aziz Sonawala, Dr. Ehsan Bari (neurosurgeon) Shifa International Islamabad, Dr. Arsalan Ahmed, Dr. Maimoona Siddiqui, Dr. Bashir Soomro from Ziauddin University Khi, Dr. Tipu Sultan from Lahore Children Hospital, Dr. Naila Shahbaz from Dow University Karachi, Dr. Aziz Sonawala and other experts as the faculty of the mini fellowship. Dr. Bashir Jumma was the co-organiser of the event held with help an unrestricted educational grant of Getz Pharma.

Experts trained the young neurophysician especially those interested in treating epilepsy about new management methods to treat this disease. They said treatment plan for pregnant women, young boys and girls and elderly patients should be tailored as per their individual needs.

Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui stressed the need of better awareness and early diagnosis of the epilepsy. She said the patient should be referred to a trained physician as soon as possible and it’s treatment plan should not be discontinued without the advice of the doctor. She said with proper treatment and care epilepsy patients could lead productive and enjoyable life.

Epilepsy Mini Fellow ship 2023 is extensive course derived from the Kiffen Penry Epilepsy Minifellows Association of Winston-Salem, USA. The course is modified to local needs in order to help physicians dealing with epilepsy patients, manage the scientific precision and understanding.
