India’s negative attitude & obstinacy biggest obstacles in implementation of UN resolution on Kashmir: Ghulam Muhammad Safi
RAWALPINDI, Jan 28 (SABAH): Ghulam Muhammad Safi, the Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference’s Azad Jammu and Kashmir branch, has said that India’s negative attitude and obstinacy are the biggest obstacles to the implementation of the United Nations resolution on Kashmir.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi, while addressing an event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell at the e-Library in Rawalpindi, said that Jammu and Kashmir is not a part of India. The United Nations Security Council has acknowledged the right to self-determination of the Kashmiris in its resolutions and has promised to grant them this inalienable right, he said. He further said that for many years, India has been repeating its stance on occupied Jammu and Kashmir at international forums, which is contrary to the facts.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi said that the Kashmiris reject India’s illegal occupation of their homeland. He said India, which claims to be a champion of democracy, has occupied a large part of the Jammu and Kashmir state for many decades and is involved in war crimes against humanity in the occupied region. He further mentioned that India is misleading the world by celebrating its so-called Republic Day, while it continues to hold the oppressed Kashmiris hostage through military force.
He said that thousands of Kashmiris, for raising their voices in support of their rights, are still imprisoned in various Indian jails. He said that under these circumstances, India celebrating its Republic Day is a mockery of democracy. Ghulam Muhammad Safi emphasized that the Kashmiris’ stance is clear: a country that has forcibly occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the will of its people has no right to call itself a democratic nation.
A large number of male and female students from universities in Rawalpindi and Islamabad attended the event. On this occasion, Director of Liberation Cell, Raja Khan Afsar Khan, Sardar Sajid Mehmood, Incharge of the E-Library Government of Punjab, Malik Tahir Awan, Malik Asif Awan, Qari Sibghatullah Qadri, Qari Samiullah Qadri, and others were present.
