Indian premier Modi’s visit to Kashmir an endeavor to mislead the world: DFP

SRINAGAR, Jan 13 (SABAH): Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has has termed the Indian premier Narendra Modi’s visit to Kashmir yet another attempt to mislead the world.

In a statement, the DFP spokesman advocate Arshad Iqbal said that on the one hand Indian government was using all means of oppression and suppression to stifle people’s aspirations for freedom and justice, while on the other Modi government was shamelessly promoting the so-called development narrative by inaugurating strategically important projects to meet the country’s defense needs.

The DFP spokesman said that such initiatives taken by the Indian government every now and then were part of its grand design to strengthen it’s control over the territory that remains embroiled in a serious conflict and turmoil since the past several decades.

He said that the Indian government was trying to mislead the world by hiding the harsh realities in Kashmir. He said that it was quite unfortunate that the so-called largest democracy takes pride in suppressing legitimate political aspirations and democratic rights of the Kashmiri people rather respecting their fundamental rights and privileges guaranteed to them under the UNSC resolutions.

Denouncing Indian authorities move to intensify restrictions ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, the DFP leader said that heightened security measures, establishment of additional checkpoints, and surveillance system speak volumes about the Indian government’s claims of normalcy in the region.
