India has come on defensive position regarding Kashmir issue: Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry


ISLAMABAD, Dec 07 (SABAH): President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that due to the Kashmir issue being highlighted at the international level, there is full global pressure on India forcing it to adopt a defensive position. He added that overseas public opinion was in favor of Kashmir with a general perception that India is responsible for day to day oppression of Kashmiri people.

While his address in Kashmir House Islamabad during a meeting with 55-member delegation of female students from different colleges and universities of Balochistan led by former member Balochistan Assembly and Director Al-Mohsinat Samina Saeed, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chauhdry said that Azad Kashmir was the base camp for Kashmir Freedom Movement from where they were struggling for liberation of Kashmir.

He further added that their struggle was in line with United Nations Resolutions and for the very purpose they were rendering sacrifices. Incepted in 1947, Kashmir issue had reached a decisive position and that the world had gone cognizant of the fact that world couldn’t become peaceful with resolution of the issue.

Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry emphasized that the world knew that there would be catastrophic consequences of any nuclear war between India and Pakistan. He also noted that the incumbent Indian Government led by Narendra Modi had an extremist approach and he had undertaken several visits to USA, UK, Belgium and France to highlight the extremism of the Indian government. He highlighted that more than 50 parliament members participated during his address in the British Parliament.

President AJK said that Indian is committing atrocities on the people belonging to the minorities and especially targeting the Muslims. He said that Indian government made laws regarding the Indian farmers but after the protest of the farmers PM Narendra Modi took back these laws, adding that we are also hopeful that India will withdraw 5th August 2019 steps.

Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chauhdry while welcoming the delegation said that he was the president of the base camp, from we will have to activate the freedom movement. He said that there is also need to highlight Kashmir issue in Pakistan, adding that public opinion impacts a lot on the government and political parties.

Replying a question, Barrister Sultan said that on 5th August 2019 the amendment was made in Indian constitution and after Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the joint session of Azad Kashmir Assembly and announced to become the ambassador of the Kashmiris, adding that Imran Khan also extended dialogue offer to India but India is not coming towards dialogues. Replying a question, he said that the occupied Kashmir situation is becoming worse with the passage of everyday.
