In the last two & half years, human rights situation has deteriorated in IIOJK: Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ejaz

BUENOS AIRES, Feb 06 (SABAH): A seminar and a photo exhibition were organized in Buenos Aires, Argentina to express solidarity with the beleaguered and oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IlOJK). People from different walks of life affirmed support for Kashmiris in their just struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination.

Speaking at the seminar, Ambassador of Pakistan in Argentina, Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ejaz stated that in the last two and half years, human rights situation has deteriorated in IIOJK. Since August 2019, 116 cases of gang rape and molestation of women, which are being used as a weapon of oppression by the state forces, have been reported. He asked the human rights groups and the Pakistani community living in South America to apprise policy makers and media of their respective countries about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Appreciating Argentina for its continued participation in the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan, the Ambassador urged human rights organisations in Argentina to play their role by condemning the atrocities and use of disproportionate force against the peaceful protesters in IIOJK by the occupying forces.

While other speakers condemned Indian atrocities in the strongest terms, the messages of the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan on the Kashmir Solidarity Day were read out on the occasion.

A photo exhibition depicting violence against women and civilian population in IIOJK was arranged at the Chancery building in Buenos Aires. Photographs showcasing the use of pellet guns and the destruction of various neighbourhoods were on the display. The visitors were shocked to learn about the inhuman treatment and egregious human rights violations by the occupying forces in IIOJK. They expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their peaceful and just struggle for the right to self-determination.
