In Pakistan 10 to 12 percent persons are disabled who need to be facilitated by society: President Alvi


ISLAMABAD, July 23 (SABAH): President Dr. Arif Alvi has said the government is taking measures to make persons with disabilities productive citizens of the society.

In a video message for special persons with disabilities on Sunday, President Dr. Arif Alvi said in Pakistan 10 to 12 percent persons are disabled who need to be facilitated by society.

He said those with mental and physical deficiencies and those who could not see, hear and speak should be given admission in regular schools where they could be not denied admission legally. He said that it is more important for the disabled children to be admitted in common schools instead of opening special schools for them.

President Dr. Arif Alvi said that all the provinces have passed laws regarding the job quota of the disabled children and at federal level the law has been passed for allocating 3 to 5 percent quota in government and private institutions. President Alvi also appealed to the businessmen to create jobs for the disabled persons. He said that welcoming the disabled persons in public atmosphere, welcoming them in schools, installing ramps for them and facilitating them so that they could become self-reliance as important personalities of the society.
