Imran Khan’s political future looks bleak: Irfan Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD, August 27 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui on Tuesday said that Imran Khan’s political future looks bleak.

“The May 9 conspiracy and the perpetrators have been exposed,” Senator Irfan Siddiqui said in an interview with a private TV.

Talking about Khan’s politics, Irfan Siddiqui said that it’s past and there seems noting in future for him. Responding to a question, he said that the PML-N would be satisfied if the plan to remove Nawaz Sharif from power is also exposed and the individuals involved were also brought justice.

He said that former Premier Nawaz sharif was implicated in countless establishment cases but there was not a single allegation of corruption. He said the PML-N Chief was sentenced in a bogus case of asset beyond means.

“Nawaz Sharif led a rally of hundreds of thousands from rawalpindi but despite the large turnout and the passionate speeches, the demonstration remained peaceful, and no one even threw a stone at the General Headquarters (GHQ).” Ifran Siddiqui suggested that perhaps an investigation from Faiz Hameed might provide leads for that matter.

He said that more than 200 military installations were attacked to create ripples with the army and to topple a government. The planning reflects a military mind, he said.

He said that the establishment, which was previously part of the problem, has now become part of the solution.

Those who sowed discord are no longer in power, and the current establishment is now involved in resolving these issues, he added.

“There is noting wrong if we have good relationship. We do not want to put the establishment into a difficult situation, ” he said.

Irfan Siddiqui criticized PTI, stating that would not acknowledge it as a genuine political party, as the actions taken on May 9 are incompatible with being a legitimate political entity.

Responding to a question he said that ” receiving a high number of votes does not absolve them from criminal responsibility.”

He clarified that being a member of parliament does not mean to being free from the law, and there is no connection between votes and criminal activity.

He added that from General Akbar’s time to the present, no conspiracy succeeded and those involved have been brought to justice.

He said that the events of May 9 make its the first conspiracy that has been executed.

On former army chief General Bajwa’s role, Irfan Siddiqui said he was the key figure, stating that the story extends back to London, involving individuals like Pasha, Zaheerul Islam, Asim Bajwa, and Asif Ghafoor.
