Imran Khan’s another alleged audio released about horse trading

ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (SABAH): Another alleged audio of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was released on Friday, the latest in a series of leaks from the Prime Minister’s Office, purportedly featuring the PTI chief talking about horse-trading in parliament.

In the audio recording, a voice believed to be Imran’s says: “You have a misunderstanding that now the number game is complete […] don’t think this is over.”

“You see, 48 hours is a long long time. Big things are happening. I am making my own moves that we can’t make public,” Imran Khan purportedly says.

The PTI chief allegedly goes on to say that he “is buying five” lawmakers.

“I have given the message that those five are very important. And tell them that if they secure these five […] and if he secures 10, then the game will be in our hands. The nation at this moment is alarmed. Across the board, people want us to win somehow.

“Hence, don’t worry about whether this is right or wrong […] even if they break one, it would create a huge difference,” the voice, believed to be Imran’s, adds.

Chairman PTI is telling his aides that, “You have got it wrong that the number game has been completed.” He said the number is not satisfactory, along with telling them to not to lose hope as the game is not over.

Imran Khan underscored that 48 hours from now are very important and many things of great importance are going on. “I’m making many calculated moves on my part that can’t be made public,” added Imran Khan.

The PTI Chairman went on saying in the audio that, “I am buying five MNAs and the five I have are very important.”

In the alleged audio, the former prime minister while hinting to someone directed to tell that person that if he gets them five more members, they will have 10 and the game will be in their hands.

Imran Khan said that, “The nation is worried now and they want us to win in any way, so don’t worry about whether it is right or wrong.”

“Well, whatever the tactics, if someone breaks even one MNA, it will make a big difference,” said PTI Chairman.

Meanwhile PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry on Friday did not disavow the contents of the latest audio clip but said that “everyone knows where and how the audios are being made”. In a tweet, the former minister asked: “By joining voices such as these will you prove NRO 2 to be valid?”

It is worth mentioning here that the hacker, claiming to hold audios of the PM House, has leaked another soundbite that suggests PTI Chairman Imran Khan was involved in horse trading during his tenure at the country’s highest office.

The comments made by the former premier in the purported audio suggested that it was recorded before the voting on the no-confidence motion was held against him.

The audio mentions a 48-hour time period and it matches with the Supreme Court order that was issued on April 7. The top court had directed the National Assembly speaker to hold a vote on the motion no later than April 9.

It is not clear who else was present in the meeting where the discussion regarding the party position in the National Assembly took place.

This is the third audio of the PTI chairman leaked during the past couple of weeks following a series of audios of the incumbent government surfaced on social media.

In the previous ones, the PTI leaders could be heard talking about the alleged US conspiracy and how to use it in their favour.

Last week, a leaked audio recording of PTI leaders was released purportedly featuring party leaders Asad Umar and Shah Mahmood Qureshi discussing the much-touted “threat cipher” with Imran Khan and ex-principal secretary – ratcheting up the controversy around the steady drip of damning leaks allegedly offering a glimpse of the inside story.

The 1.09-minute-long audio emerged on social media and featured a conversation purportedly between Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Azam about a strategy to set the stage for a narrative around the Cablegate affair.

In May this year, the former prime minister had urged the Supreme Court to take action against ‘horse-trading’.

“What example are we setting for our coming generation that public representatives were sold like goats and sheeps,” Imran said in an interview with a private TV channel.

Imran further stated he believed if the apex court did not take action against ‘horse-trading’ then it would put the country’s future at stake.
