Imran Khan will be arrested as soon as his bail would expire on June 25: Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD, June 05 (SABAH): As members of the former PTI government confirmed Imran Khan’s plans to return to Islamabad for a core committee meeting, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan on Sunday ‘welcomed’ him, saying the police personnel protecting the former prime minister would arrest him “with great enthusiasm” once his pre-arrest bail expires.

In a statement issued on twitter on Sunday, Rana Sanaullah Khan said that Imran Khan still being provided with security as per the law by the federal government after his return to Bani Gala from Peshawar, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Rana Sanaullha said that the security personnel deployed to protect Imran Khan were still performing their duty. He added that the “same security” would efficiently arrest the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman after the expiration of his bail on June 25.

Rana Sanaullah said there were several cases registered against Imran Khan for allegedly fomenting violence during the long march on May 25. Imran Khan will be arrested as soon as his bail would expire, he added.

“A person who instigates mischief in the country, who has complete disregard for moral and democratic values, and who even calls his opponents traitors and Yazeed. How can such a person be the head of a political party in a democratic society?” Rana Sanaullah added.

“This is a moment of reflection for the whole nation,” he said while concluding the Twitter thread.

“Imran Khan is being provided the security as per law and the “same security” will arrest him once his bail expires on the 25th of June. He is nominated as a suspect in more than two dozen cases including rioting, instigating violence, and armed attacks on the federation” Rana Sanaullah Khan tweeted.

Late Saturday night, the Islamabad Police said that in the view of Imran Khan’s “expected arrival”, security around Bani Gala has been strengthened and placed on high alert. But they said nothing official had been announced with regard to Imran’s return.

“However, until now Islamabad Police has not received any confirmed news of return from Imran Khan’s team,” the Islamabad police tweeted.

“Security Division has deployed dedicated security in Bani Gala. List of people in Bani Gala not provided yet to Police. Section 144 is imposed in Islamabad and any congregation is not allowed as per orders of District Magistrate,” it further stated.

The police added that Imran would be provided complete security as per the law and “reciprocal cooperation is expected from security teams of Imran Khan as well”.
