Imran Khan says poverty in Pakistan declining due to govt’s policies of productivity-led growth


ISLAMABAD, Oct 29 (SABAH): Prime Minister Imran Khan has said poverty in Pakistan is declining due to government’s policies of productivity-led growth to create employment in the country.

In a tweet on Friday, PM Imran Khan said according to the World Bank estimates poverty incidence has fallen to 4.8 percent in the current fiscal year from 5.3 percent in the last fiscal year.

The Prime Minister said this trend is expected to continue downwards to four percent by fiscal year 2023.

“Acc to World Bank estimates based on int poverty line of $1.90 PPP 2011 per day, poverty incidence has fallen to 4.8% in FY21 from 5.3% in FY20; & is expected to continue downwards to 4.0% by FY23. This is result of our policies of productivity-led growth to create employment” PM Imran Khan tweeted.
