Imran Khan responsible for present economic turmoil in the country: Bilal Azhar Kayani
ISLAMABAD, April 09 (SABAH): Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Economy and Energy Bilal Azhar Kayani has expressed his government’s commitment to improve country’s economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Addressing media in Islamabad on Sunday, Bilal Azhar Kayani said our macroeconomic indicators are improving and after the staff level agreement with the IMF our foreign exchange reserves will increase. He categorically said we have successfully averted the default position and now expecting increase in foreign exchange reserves after IMF deal and support from friendly countries.
Counting on different measures by the incumbent government to improve economy, he said our current account deficit has decreased by 68 percent in first eight months of the current fiscal year. He said keeping in view the foreign exchange reserves, the current government is trying maximum not to put any extra burden on poor people.
Bilal Azhar Kayani said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan is responsible for the present economic turmoil in the country. He said instead of staying focused on economy, the ex-Prime Minister remained busy in political persecution and he didn’t care about public problems.
The Coordinator said during Imran Khan’s tenure, six million people became jobless and 20 million people were forced to live under poverty line. He said the PTI government increased the overall debt of the country by 78 percent in less than four years.
Contrary to this PML-N government in its previous tenure completed unprecedented development projects and overcame the historic energy crisis.
