Imran Khan is not presenting himself before the judges as he is well aware that he is a ‘criminal’: PM Shehbaz
ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan for “derailing his own International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme”.
In light of the challenges, PM Shehbaz Sharif in a statement issued on Saturday said the PTI chief’s agenda includes spreading anarchy and chaos on the streets of the country — which will ultimately lead to “instability”.
“He does not want the poor people to get relief from inflation and economic pressures,” the prime minister said, berating Imran Khan for creating hindrances in Pakistan’s road to stability.
The prime minister then berated Imran Khan for “running away” from the courts and said that he isn’t presenting himself before the judges as he is well aware that he is a “criminal”.
The PM termed Imran Khan running away from courts as the “height of cowardice” and said: “First, he ran away from the IMF programme and now he is running away from the courts.”
PM Shehbaz Sharif added that during PTI’s tenure, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders faced one of the “worst revenge” of the NAB-Niazi nexus. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that we along our sons, daughters and sisters appeared before the courts and in front of law in fake cases, adding that PML-N leaders remained in death cells and faced fake cases like heroin.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for devising a strategy to acquire self-sufficiency in agricultural produce and address the country’s economic crisis.
Chairing a meeting in Lahore on Wednesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities concerned to devise a comprehensive mechanism in order to resolve the issues related to food chain and easy access of agricultural produce to general public.
In order to bring betterment in agricultural sector, the Prime Minister asked to complete work on agricultural reforms at the earliest and activate the role of agricultural research institutions at federal and provincial level.
Expressing displeasure over the import of crops despite having the status of agricultural country, Shehbaz Sharif directed to provide quality seeds to farmers by ensuring transparency and effectiveness in the seed certification process.
In order to gain bumper cotton crops, the Prime Minister directed authorities concerned to take immediate and long-term measures from now in this regard.
