Imran Khan as well as PTI needed to realize that the suicide attack they orchestrated against the system met with failure: Rana Sanaullah
ISLAMABAD, April 30 (SABAH): Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that former prime minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan as well as PTI needed to realize the suicide attack they orchestrated against the system met with failure as he couldn’t undertake what he wished to.
Rana Sanaullah Khan expressed these views during an interview with a private TV channel. He further said that ex-premier’s suicide jacket became redundant as he wanted to take date of elections by besieging the capital on May 25 but in vain. He wished the sea of people will ensure holding of elections but he didn’t succeed. He also dissolved assemblies while orchestrating a suicide attack but he failed in his effort.
The minister said the general elections were looming; hence Imran Khan needs not to repeat the mistakes he committed earlier and added polls must be held as soon as assemblies’ term expires. “Yes! It is of paramount importance how elections could be held in a free, fair and transparent manner which acceptable to both the winner and loser. In my opinion, there is no worth of July 12 or August 13,” he emphasized.
He further said that former chief justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar’s son Najam Saqib said that recently leaked audio was baseless and it was mere an allegation against him. He said if it was proved true, he should present himself for forensic analysis to take stock of its veracity and if the case was otherwise, he would be winner. “Such bargaining doesn’t fall under the category of private conversation,” he urged.
Rana Sanaullah said the chiefs of ruling coalition parties had reached on the point that elections should be held on the same day but they didn’t reach a consensus that elections of five assemblies should be held during the ongoing year.
“I think PTI is well cognizant of the fact that elections should be held on the same day. PTI is urging to dissolve assemblies during May while the ruling coalition parties were in favour of elections after presenting the budget,” he said. The entire contention revolves around only one-and-half month, he noted and added there is nothing which may be termed unresolvable.
Meanwhile Rana Sanaullah says Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s decision to disband provincial assemblies is a blatant attempt to derail democracy.
Talking to another private news channel, he said the one-point agenda of negotiations with PTI is to hold elections simultaneously in the entire country and let the National Assembly complete its constitutional term.
The Interior Minister said the government is of the opinion that the elections should be held after the budget.
Replying to a question, he said the federal government is not involved in the raid on Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s house.
