IHC CJ Aamer Farooq bars ECP from issuing verdict in contempt case against Fawad Chaudhry
ISLAMABAD, June 22 (SABAH): Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq on Thursday barred the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from issuing final verdict in ECP’s contempt case against former information minister Fawad Chaudhry.
A petition was filed by the former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry against the show-cause notices issued by the electoral body to him in January and June this year. IHC conducted hearing on the petition and barred ECP to issue a final decision in this regard. IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq issued a two-page order.
The IHC ordered the Commission to continue with its proceedings but stopped it from issuing a final ruling in the case. It has also summoned a reply from the ECP till first week of July.
According to the order, the petitioner challenged the notice of January 27 and show-cause notice of June 13.
