If Imran Khan will not present himself for accountability then he will have to face punishment: Marriyum Aurangzeb
ISLAMABAD, August 04 (SABAH): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that Imran Khan’s case is being heard at lower court, he approaches high court and Supreme Court of Pakistan praying that his case should not be heard, adding that the one who had demanded accountability of others should present himself for accountability. She said that if Imran Khan will not present himself for accountability then he will have to face punishment and will have to be held accountability for each and every penny of the national exchequer. She said that still there are some misguided people who think Imran Khan is right, adding that these people should listen Imran Khan’s interview with BBC in HARDtalk.
Talking to newsmen outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Friday, Marriyum Aurangzeb said Imran Khan had said that he will commit suicide instead of approaching International Monetary Fund (IMF), adding that Imran Khan did not commit suicide because his purpose was not to strengthen the economy. She said that the only purpose of Imran Khan was to promote his false narrative of calling opponents thieves. She said that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif presented himself along with his children for accountability in front of parliament, Supreme Court of Pakistan and courts. She said that Nawaz Sharif had and still today has the answers of all the false allegations leveled against him. She said that no PML-N leader including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz Sharif appeared before the court while wearing dustbin and tin on head because they had answer, adding that they spent each and every penny of the national kitty for the service of the masses while considering it as fidelity.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Ordinance 2002 Amendment Bill has been put before the Senate after the National Assembly passed it.
Marriyum Aurangzeb requested the Chairman Senate Mir Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani to forward the PEMRA Ordinance 2002 Amendment Bill to Standing Committee concerned for further deliberations and recommendations of the Senators.
The Minister said the Bill has been drafted after through consultations of over 14 months and contains opinions and inputs of all media organizations and Parliamentary Reporters Association.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said misinformation and disinformation have been defined and differentiated through new amendments. She said that the opinion of the senators should be constructive and it should not be based on just opposition for the sake of opposition. She said that the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting is missing, adding that he appears occasionally. She said that this is very important bill so it could not be delayed; adding that chairman senate enjoys the authority to appoint acting chairman of the committee for this legislation. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that there is good intention behind this bill, there is intention of restructuring and reformation of PEMRA, adding that with the blessings of Almighty Allah this bill will be passed by Senate and will become law.
