If Chairman NAB has courage, he should favor installation of CCTV cameras in PAC briefing: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi


KARACHI, Dec 10 (SABAH): Former prime minister and Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nothing to do with the Green Line Project, adding that three months time was needed for the completion of the project but it took three and half years instead of three months, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan should reply this question. He said that if Chairman NAB has courage, he should favor installation of CCTV cameras in Public Accounts Committee (PAC) briefing so that masses could see how NAB chairman answer the questions and that move would be the true essence of accountability. Former premier further added that he could foretell precisely that prime minister would nominate Javed Iqbal as chairman NAB.

He said this while his talking to media persons after appearing before accountability court in Karachi on Friday. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that false references were made for political engineering so that opposition could be pressed.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that there is neither a democratic system nor a stable parliament, nor moral ethics and nor democratic norms in the country. He said that today we are living in a Pakistan where courts are unable to deliver justice. He said that court proceedings should be shown live to the people by installing cameras in the courts.

False references are made to suppress the opposition; everyone goes round the courts, who is responsible for this? Doesn’t Chairman NAB have to answer for making fake references?, Abbasi added.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi further said that the chairman NAB works on daily wages, one day he will also see the accountability of so-called chairman and justice will be served. He said that chairman NAB claims to recovers Rs 539 billion but only Rs 1.6 billion reached in the national kitty and this is the honesty of the chairman NAB. He said that when today chairman NAB appears before the PAC he says the meeting should be held in-camera.

Shahid Khaqan Abbssi said that the government should show only one project of national level which has been started during the last three and half years. He said that the country only progresses when the projects of national level are established and pro-public policy is formed.
