Holding elections on same day is solution to country’s problems: Fazlur Rehman
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, April 19 (SABAH): Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami (JUI-F) Ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday said that holding elections on same day is solution to the country’s problems.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed these views during his meetings with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami (JUI-F) leader Kafail Ahmed Nizami, his father Haji Nizamuddin and an oil mills owner Shakeel Ahmed Nizami at his residence Shorkot. During the meeting, Haji Nizamuddin expressed his condolence before Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the tragic death of Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor.
Shedding light on the current political scenario of the country, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that as per Constitution, the judiciary and executive have separate powers. He added that no one should exceed its limits.
He further said, “You have snatched all the powers of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) by issuing all the elections schedule. Powers of Parliament, ECP and executive have been occupied. When there is a clear division of powers according to the Constitution then no interference is justifiable.”
He further said, “When there would be interference in each and every department then how the institutions and the government will work. The government was approving a law. Before the formation of act, the court bench was formed. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam will continue its struggle for the enforcement of Islamic laws.”
