High level PPP meeting stresses for taking decisions related to terrorism issues through Parliament


ISLAMABAD, June 11 (SABAH): High level Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) meeting has stressed for taking decisions related to terrorism issues through Parliament. Meanwhile Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday said that all decisions related to terrorism, including those connected to ongoing talks with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), must be made by parliament.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the party would reach out to its allies to build a consensus on the way forward. “PPP held a high-level meeting to discuss the issue of terrorism, particularly in light of recent developments in Afghanistan, with the TTA (Tehreek-i-Taliban Afghanistan) & TTP. PPP believes that all decisions must be taken by parliament,” he tweeted.

The hybrid meeting presided over by former president Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was held at Zardari House in Islamabad and was attended by senior party leadership.

The meeting sought the parliament’s role in countering terrorism after the developments came to light in Afghanistan related to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The participants discussed the issue of terrorism in-detail, particularly in light of recent developments in Kabul about Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan and banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The meeting decided that all decisions should be made in parliament while taking the parliament into confidence.

A statement issued by the party on twitter said that the meeting reiterated the Party position that all decisions must be taken by the parliament and thus the parliament must be taken on board.

The party also decided to reach out to allied parties to create consensus on the way forward.

The meeting was attended among others by two former prime ministers Yousuf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Ms Faryal Talpur, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Senator Sherry Rehman, Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, Najmuddin Khan, President PPP KPK, Faisal Karim Kundi, Humayun Khan, Chauddhry Muhammad Yasin, Chaudhry Qamar Kaira, Chaudhry Manzoor, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Akhunzada Chattan, Rukhsana Bangash, Senator Nisar Ahmed Khuro and Farhatullah Khan Babar.

The PPP said the party had reiterated that all decisions must be taken by the parliament, and thus, the parliament must be taken on board.
