Helping Hand starting projects worth Rs 3.5 billion for help & rehabilitation of flood affectees: Dr. Mohsin Ansari


ISLAMABAD, August 31 (SABAH): Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) organized a press conference regarding the briefing about relief and rehabilitation activities of HHRD for flood victims of Pakistan today in Islamabad.

Addressing the press conference, the President Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) Dr. Mohsin Ansari, said that a project worth three and a half billion rupees should be started for the flood victims which is managed by HHRD for flood victims of Pakistan. HHRD is helping humanity irrespective of race, caste, and religion.

CEO HHRD USA Javed Siddiqui said in his speech that the recent rains and floods have proved to be more destructive than the 2005 earthquake. Helping Hand works best in Pakistan in consultation with the government departments.

On this occasion, the Country Director of Helping Hand Pakistan, Muhammad Saleem Mansoori, while talking to the media, said that the recent rains and floods have destroyed the whole the country and killed more than people in Pakistan. Currently, the most affected areas include the districts of Balochistan, Sindh, South Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Among them, especially the communities that were living in the villages around the rivers have been affected more. 1136 people have lost their lives, while millions of people have been forced to live in the open due to destroyed of more than one million houses. Women, elderly people, and children are the most affected by this problem. Many people’s lives are still in danger. It is a very bad situation. People are living in very painful situations. People’s houses are submerged in water. People’s property has been destroyed. Our donors must support these people in these dire situations.

HHRD has started its relief projects in twenty-one districts affected by rains and floods. Currently, more than 72,000 people across the country, including Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have been given relief in this hour of difficulty.
