Hamza Shehbaz is still Punjab’s CM & we have a simple majority of 177 votes in the house: Atta Tarar


LAHORE, June 30 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Attaullah Tarar Advocate says Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered recounting of votes for the election of Chief Minister Punjab held on April 16.
In a press talk along with other party leaders in Lahore on Thursday, he said the court instructed that during the re-counting if the required majority could not be attained by any candidate then run of election will be conducted.
Attaullah Tarar said Hamza Shehbaz is still Punjab’s Chief Minister and we have a simple majority of 177 votes in the house while the opposition has 168 members. “We have a nine-vote lead,” said Attaullah Tarar.
He said the court did not annul the previous decision nor it ordered the fresh elections.
Attaullah Tarar said the Governor Punjab has been directed by the court to summon the Punjab Assembly session today (Friday) evening.
In addition, the PML-N leader Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan while vouching for a peaceful and disciplined CM election in the Punjab Assembly warned the opposition that any attempts to sabotage the election process today (Friday) will be contempt of court.
