ISLAMABAD/FAISALABAD,  Oct 04 (SABAH):  Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman held separate meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday in Islamabad.

Following these meetings, he traveled to Faisalabad to address a public gathering, where he urged the people of Pakistan to come out in solidarity with Palestine on October 7.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is observing a week of solidarity with the people of Gaza, marking the one-year anniversary of Israeli aggression. As part of this campaign, two major events are scheduled for October 6 and 7 in Karachi and Islamabad, featuring Gaza Million Marches. On October 7, JI will also observe a National Solidarity Day for Gaza.

During his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman requested that October 7 be officially declared Palestine Solidarity Day at the governmental level. The Prime Minister accepted this proposal and made the announcement accordingly.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman mentioned that he raised issues related to the Independent Power Producers (IPP) agreements and the need for democratic freedoms in the country. He urged the Prime Minister to provide relief to the public by reducing electricity tariffs and abolishing the IPP agreements. He also emphasized the importance of allowing peaceful democratic gatherings for all political parties and individuals.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, along with JI leaders Liaqat Baloch and Amirul Azim, met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who was on a three-day visit to Pakistan. The two leaders agreed that Muslim nations must take a strong stance on the Palestinian cause. Anwar Ibrahim reminisced about his interactions with JI founder the late Syed Maududi and Islmai Jamiat Talba during his visits as student. They also discussed various matters of mutual interest, with Hafiz Naeemur Rehman urging the Prime Minister to address the concerns of Pakistani workers in Malaysia.
