Hafiz Naeemur Rehman holds PPP & MQM responsible for the plight of Karachiites

KARACHI, June 03 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has held the PPP and MQM responsible for the plight of Karachiites, saying the JI will fight for the rights of Karachi as the mega city could not be left on the mercy of the illegitimate government having no real mandate.

Addressing a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq on Monday, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman that 78 innocent citizens have lost their lives during the past five months, whereas 90,000 robberies were committed in the port city in a year.
He said that at one hand, billions of rupees were spent in the name of Safe City Project, while on the other the citizens were practically put on the mercy of gangsters and criminals. The livelihood opportunities for the youth in Karachi are also very limited, he said, adding the worst kind of load shedding and overcharging on part of the K-Electric have also irked the life of citizens. 

In this backdrop, he announced, the JI Karachi will mobilize Karachiites for a decisive movement after Eidul Azha. He quoted the KE head as saying that the JI has been a foe to the power utility, and said that the KE needs to keep in mind that the JI is a foe to all anti-Karachi elements — no matter who they are. Further talking about the electricity crise, he said that taxpayers will be forced to pay Rs2,800 billion in the name of capacity charges to IPPS for the electricity never used, neither produced. He added the consumer base of the KE swelled by over 100 percent but the production was reduced by 19 percent. He said that white collar criminals prevail in both the KE and NEPRA.  

The JI leader said that the PPP and the MQM and those who imposed the two parties pushed Karachi and Karachiites to the prevailing situation. 

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the IMF was dictating the country’s budget, the United States was dictating our foreign policy. He said that the situation will lead the country to nowhere. Extended relations with archrival India, adversary to Afghanistan, estranged relations with China and lull in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor as well as Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline project were not in the favour of our country, he said. He said that Pakistan has been made a ground for proxies from across the world to play. Talking about the local scenario, he also shed light in detail on the services of the JI for the society.
