KARACHI, July 18 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has demanded holding of elections after putting in place constituencies under new census.

While talking to media persons in Karachi here on Tuesday, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman was of the view that census in the coastal city of Karachi must be held again, saying its population was increased to only 7 million that is why it needed rectification.

Taking dig at Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan’s statement, he remarked, “Who are you to hinder the Constitutional process.”  He added a number of anomalies were perpetrated during the previous census as a many high-rise buildings were not counted in the census.

He stated that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has toyed with the city as it has exploiting it for the sake of committing corruption and added so much so the party had shut the doors of employment for the youth.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman noted that Karachi has a major role in the economy of the country and further demanded holding of elections after putting in place constituencies under new census.  He added the city contains over 35 million people; hence, it is counted as it is.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman maintained that PPP was running the city as per its own will. “There is electricity crisis in the city while National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) was one and again issuing directions that there should be no load-shedding,” he concluded.
