Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announces to quit Sindh Assembly seat due to rigging in elections
KARACHI, Feb 12 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced to quit Sindh Assembly seat due to rigging in elections. He said they don’t need a seat given in charity. He said he didn’t win in PS-129 but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed candidate has won.
While addressing a press conference in Karachi, Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said what is being done in the entire country is not more than a show and added it is mandate of stick and tyranny.
According to form 47 of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), he said he received 26000 votes but according to form 45, he was given 30464 votes. He said this shows that PTI received more votes and added “we accept their mandate. We accept victory of PTI.
He further said, “If they defeated us but they cannot remove us from the hearts of the masses. I accept victory of independent candidate in PS 129. I give up PS-129 seat. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) cannot win a counselor seat. We don’t need a single extra vote from anyone and don’t want to give any of our vote to anyone else. We will pursue a legal and political war. You cannot change minds of people with spurious mandate.”
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said, “On February 8, polling could not be started timely. Time was wasted. We kept on complaining that polling was not being started. The people were deprived from the right of vote. First cameras were removed and then started filling the boxes.”
He went on to say, “Form 45 were not being given. In the large number, the polling agents were not given forms. In the form 47, worst rigging was done. ROs offices were sealed from four sides so that no one can interfere. We kept on putting forth the facts before the people.”
He said the people gave Jamaat-e-Islami more votes than during the local bodies’ polls, adding votes were given either to Jamaat-e-Islami candidates or independent candidates supported by PTI. He said terming this election as election is injustice, adding who adopted the way of falsehood they themselves had trapped.
