Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announces next phase of movement to give rights to people on govt’s non-implementation of the agreement

LAHORE, Sep 24 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced the next phase of the Haq Do Movement for the people after the government did not implement the agreement. On September 29, protest rallies and sit-ins are announced across the country, from October 23 to October 27, a public referendum will be held whether to pay the electricity bills or not, during which a wheel jam can be called, which can last for more than one day, adding after which there will be rallies across the country.

Haifz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Mansoorah. Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Ameerul Azim and JI Secretary Information Qaiser Sharif were also present on this occasion.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman demanded a uniform electricity tariff, the cancellation of agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and an end to the luxurious lifestyles enjoyed by the ruling elite at the expense of state resources. He called for imposing taxes on feudal lords, providing tax relief to salaried individuals, and abolishing unjust taxes on the trading community.

Haifz Naeemur Rehman said there is also an option of million march which can be converted into a long march to Islamabad, adding they support the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in reserved seats case, those who take illegal seats should also be known to the nation. The founder of PTI should be released. According to the charges under which the founder of PTI has been kept in jail, all the PDM should also be put in jail.

He said that it has been a year since Israel imposed war on the oppressed Palestinians in Gaza. After this, they will start a new resistance movement again. They completely reject the constitutional amendment, there should not be any changes, the constitutional amendment is the attack on the judiciary and democracy.

He said that the Haq Do Tehreek is basically a movement to give the people their rights, in which Jamaat-e-Islami or its leadership has no interest.

He said this movement is against electricity bills, petrol and gas prices and taxes on salaries. He said that the government ministers should be given smaller vehicles, incentives should be removed, free electricity and petrol facilities should be removed.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Jamaat-e-Islami did not sit at home after signing the agreement and continued to communicate with the government as well as held rallies. He said the peaceful shutter-down strike on the call of Jamaat-e-Islami, was the most successful strike in history, adding it created national unity.

Moreover, he announced that JI would observe Palestine and Lebanon Solidarity Week from October 7, with a Gaza Million March scheduled in Karachi on October 6, followed by nationwide protests on October 7. He urged the government to officially observe October 7 as a national day of solidarity with the people of Palestine and their freedom fighters. He appealed to the nation to take to the streets at 12 noon on October 7 to express their solidarity with Palestinian brothers and sisters.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman held a handful of influential families responsible for the country’s current state, pointing out that only 4% of growers own 40% of the agricultural land in Pakistan. He stressed that the nation’s condition cannot be improved without addressing the corrupt elite. He suggested that the government reduce petrol prices to Rs. 150 per liter, as the international market price of oil has already dropped to $70 per barrel.

Responding to a question, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman remarked that politicians and political parties that have historically sought support from the military establishment are responsible for its interference in political matters. He emphasized that a peaceful mass movement is essential for the strengthening of democracy, and JI is actively striving towards this goal. He also criticized the Election Commission, describing it as partisan and incapable of fulfilling its duties.
