Hafiz Naeemur Rehman an announces APC on Balochistan in Islamabad on April 14 & a peace march in Peshawar on April 20
ISLAMABAD, March 26 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced an All Parties Conference (APC) on Balochistan in Islamabad on April 14 and a major peace march in Peshawar on April 20.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views during a press conference at Jamaat-e-Islami’s office in Islamabad, accompanied by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s Deputy Emir Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Mian Muhammad Aslam, Jamaat-e-Islami KPK leader Inayatullah Khan, and others.
He questioned the Army Chief, asking who brought the government of bad governance into power through Form 47. He stated that as long as a government of Form 47 remains in place instead of public representatives, inflation and terrorism will not decrease.
He highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has been a victim of terrorism since 2001, and pro-American policies since 2000 have thrown the tribal belt into instability. Before 2001, suicide attacks did not occur in Pakistan, but when the army adopted American policies, a reaction followed. Despite 11,000 operations, peace could not be established. Pakistan supported the U.S., yet suffered the loss of 100,000 lives, he added.
In the recent wave of terrorism, 1,600 to 1,700 people have lost their lives, he said. The real issue is policy—peace in the region lies in the hands of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The reopening of the Torkham border is a positive step, but a permanent solution lies in dialogue, he added. The security situation in KPK’s southern districts and former FATA has worsened, with security forces being repeatedly targeted, he said.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman further questioned the effectiveness of military operations, asking what results have been achieved. He stated that terrorism in Pakistan is fueled by the involvement of the U.S. and India, while the state itself is providing justification for people to be exploited. The state does not just mean the army or an institution—it represents the people. The situation in Balochistan is also deteriorating, and local leadership is not being taken into confidence, he noted.
Instead of uniting everyone, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has placed the blame for bad governance on the government. He should answer who brought this government of bad governance into power. If Form 45 is ignored and those of Form 47 are given power, then there will be no true public representatives, and issues like inflation and lawlessness will remain unresolved, he stressed.
He stated that the government keeps announcing reductions in electricity prices but fails to implement them. After Eid-ul-Fitr, they will mobilize the public. The government’s performance is limited to advertisements only, he said, and added as the summer heat intensifies, electricity prices will rise. An anti-public solar policy is also being introduced. Meanwhile, the government continues to increase the salaries of its ministers and members, while Karachi has been left abandoned, he mourned.
He said that now Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is calling for another meeting of the Parliamentary National Security Committee, inviting all opposition parties. He questioned why they were not convinced earlier.
