Gwadar, attackers block the main highway kill nine people
GWADAR, March 27 (SABAH): In Balochistan’s Gwadar district, attackers blocked the main highway, pulled passengers out of vehicles, and killed nine people. They also set fire to several heavy vehicles transporting goods from the port.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the incident.
Highway Police SSP Hafeez Baloch stated that the armed men who blocked the highway killed five people. He also confirmed that three long trailers carrying urea from Gwadar port to Afghanistan were set on fire in the Tajaban area.
According to SSP Baloch, roads in Turbat, Panjgur, and Pasni were also blocked. Levies officials reported similar disruptions in Bolan, Kolpur, and Mastung. A Levies vehicle was also torched in Mastung. Security forces moved toward the affected areas to clear the highways.
Separately, officials informed a private TV channel that in the Kalmat area between Pasni and Ormara, four people were taken off a Karachi-bound passenger bus and killed. A local administration official stated that the armed men checked ID cards before executing four passengers and abducting three others.
President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. He conveyed condolences to the victims’ families, stating that terrorists are enemies of the country’s development and prosperity. He prayed for the quick recovery of the injured and for the departed souls to attain high ranks in the afterlife.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also strongly condemned the attack, praying for the deceased and their grieving families. He instructed authorities to provide the injured with the best medical care. He further ordered a thorough investigation to identify and punish those responsible.
The Prime Minister stated that insurgents are enemies of peace and progress in Balochistan. He described the attack on innocent people as a cowardly and inhumane act, emphasizing that such terrorist ambitions would never succeed. He praised the continuous efforts of security forces and law enforcement agencies in thwarting such threats, expressing pride in their dedication.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the tragic incident, expressing deep sympathy and condolences to the victims’ families. He denounced the attackers’ cowardly actions, calling the killing of innocent people a heinous crime against humanity. He affirmed that such cowardly attacks would not weaken the nation’s resolve in the fight against terrorism.
