Govt would extend all possible facilitation to Japanese investors: PM Shehbaz


ISLAMABAD, May 27 (SABAH): Mitsuhiro Wada, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, called on Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday. During the course of their conversation, views were exchanged on further strengthening the existing Pakistan-Japan bilateral relationship.

The Prime Minister recalled that the year 2022 was being marked as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations. He also appreciated that the special events being organized to commemorate this landmark occasion, were a reflection of the special relationship that Pakistan enjoyed with Japan.

Conveying Pakistan’s firm resolve to elevate this relationship to new heights, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of trade, development, education, IT, climate change, and infrastructure. The Prime Minister was deeply appreciative of JICA’s ongoing programmes and meaningful contribution for supporting socio-economic and development sectors in Pakistan.

While underscoring his government’s efforts for creating business friendly opportunities, the Prime Minister invited new Japanese companies to avail themselves of such opportunities and invest in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister assured that the Government would extend all possible facilitation to Japanese investors.

Ambassador Wada recalled Japan’s long-standing bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in diverse fields and expressed his government’s commitment to working together for the achievement of shared goals and objectives. The Ambassador also conveyed Japan’s appreciation for Pakistan’s facilitation in the post-15 August 2021 evacuation of Japanese nationals from Afghanistan.

While underlining the need to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, the Prime Minister extended a cordial invitation to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to undertake a visit to Pakistan, at an early date.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government is cognizant of the deprivation of the people of Balochistan and taking practical steps on priority basis to remove them.

He was talking to Minister for Anti-Narcotics, Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, who called on him in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Minister apprised the prime Minister about the details of operations to control Cholera epidemic in Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti and appreciated the Prime Minister’s interest in the issue and extending immediate assistance to the victims of this epidemic.

The Prime Minister directed to ensure provision of clean drinking to the local people and evolve a comprehensive strategy for prevention of any such incident in future.

He also lauded the efforts of the federal and the provincial institutions specially doctors and paramedical staff for controlling the Cholera epidemic in the area.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized on collective efforts for country’s development.

Talking to Awami National Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Aimal Wali Khan in Islamabad on Friday, he said it is priority of the government to take onboard all the stake holders for the collective development of the country. Prevailing political situation in the country was also discussed during the meeting.

Aimal Wali Khan commended the Prime Minister for successful operation to extinguish fire in the forests of Dera Ismail Khan.
