Govt making all out efforts to put country back on the track of progress: Marriyum Aurangzeb


ISLAMABAD, August 13 (SABAH): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the government is making all out efforts to put the country back on the track of progress. She said that there is difference between the enmity of the country and freedom of expression and media, adding that the narrative which divides the country, creates division between the armed forces, civil bureaucracy is divided and which calls for mutiny, adding that it is very necessary to draw the line between freedom of expression and media. She said that in Pakistan during the last 75 years, whenever democratic tenures came the dividends and fruits were received by the masses. Marriyum Aurangzeb has also paid rich tribute to late Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, all scientists and engineers who took part in the nuclear program of the country.

While addressing a press conference, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that former prime minister Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto started the nuclear program of the country and former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif made the defense of Pakistan strong while completing the nuclear program. She said that Nawaz Sharif linked the federating units with each other through construction of motorway.

She said that during the democratic tenure of former prime minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto the missile technology program was started in the country. She said that the progress made during the democratic tenures of government in Pakistan is part of our history. She said that the democratic governments faced all the difficulties and even the democratic leaders sacrificed their lives.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that all the people should vow to sow the seeds of love and unity in the country on this Independence Day.

Replying a question, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that what message is being given by a political party by hoisting the party flag while removing national flag.

Replying a question, she said that the dialogue and consultation could be held through talks and not abusing others, adding that the attitude and mindset is needed prior to holding the negotiations.

She said that security and job security of the journalists is our responsibility and it is also a law, adding that FIA has started investigations into a case and interior ministry is acting on the matter. Replying a question, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that no consultation has been started regarding the extension in tenure of the incumbent army chief, adding that it is the prerogative of the government.

Meanwhile Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says the future of Pakistan is associated with democracy, expressing the hope that the system will continue.

Addressing a ceremony of Pakistan flag painting at D-chowk in Islamabad on Saturday, she said the democratic governments have played a significant role in making defence of the country impregnable.

The Information Minister said former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto started the nuclear program and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif brought it to the final stage.

She said fireworks and laser show will be held at D-Chowk today (Sunday) at midnight to celebrate Diamond Jubilee of the country. 

The Information Minister appreciated Radio Pakistan, PTV and private media for arranging special transmissions and shows on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the country.

Children from different schools participated in the ceremony to paint the national flag. On the occasion, contingents of police from all provinces and FC presented march past.
