ISLAMABAD, June 13 (SABAH): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said the government is giving subsidy of three billion rupees to provide ghee to the masses on reduced rates. She said that those who were brining out the foreign conspiracy letter from pocket, today the foreign conspiracy has left behind and today they are giving lecture on inflation. She said that when no-confidence motion was going to succeed against Imran Khan then he decreased petrol and diesel price by Rs 10 per liter while committing criminal act against the agreement singed with the IMF. She said that a senior bureaucrat told us that when Imran Khan came to know that no-confidence motion is being succeeded against him, he decrease petrol price by Rs 10 per liter. She said that no money was kept in the national kitty for this subsidy, adding that not cabinet, nor ECC approved decrease in petroleum prices.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Monday, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that today Russian ambassador has denied the reports that any offer was made to Pakistani government by Russia for sale of oil on cheap prices. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that there is no record present at Foreign Office and also no record present at the Ministry of Petroleum in this regard. She said that the former prime minister was used to say he has not come to decrease the prices of the tomatoes, potatoes and onions but the current Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and coalition government is only thinking about giving relief to the masses from the very first day. She said that the government is taking such steps which will help taking the country towards economic stability. She said that the government is not only making announcements but also providing ghee, sugar and flour to the masses on chap rates.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that this is not story of provision of 10 million job, 5 million houses, eradicating corruption in 90 days and improving economy in 100 days, adding that the current government has taken these steps in one and half month. She said that the Pakistani masses have not seen anything else during the last four years except inflation and increase of price of the household use items.
Marriyum Auangzeb pointed out that the price of ghee in the open market is Rs 550 per kilogram whilst it is being provided at the rate of Rs 300 per kilogram through the Utility Stores Corporation. This accounts for subsidy of 250 rupees on each kilogram of ghee.
The Minister for Information said a flour bag of ten kilogram is also being provided at reduced rates of Rs 400 through Utility Stores. She said the flour is available at the same rate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as per the promise made by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
She said one hundred mobile units and six hundred stationery sale points have been added to the system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to ensure the availability of wheat flour to the masses in the province.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that price control committees have also been constituted. She said steps are being taken to check hoarding and smuggling of the essential commodities.
The Information Minister said Rs 17 billion have been earmarked in the budget for the provision of cheap ghee, flour and sugar to the people in the next fiscal year.
Alluding to the failures of the PTI government, she said the present government is taking steps to take the economy of the country towards stability. A package has been announced in the budget for the agriculture sector. She said the government has taken practical steps to provide relief to the masses. She said that the electricity load shedding will decrease to three hours a day till 30th June in the country. She said that the narrative based on the falsehood could not succeed.
