Govt has made full surrender before the IMF to receive one billion dollars: Sirajul Haq


PESHAWAR, Feb 03 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has said the government has made full surrender before the IMF to receive one billion dollars, calling for making public the conditions imposed by the international lender against the loan.

Talking to journalists after addressing a ceremony held in honor of the students who received degrees on completion of Bukhari Sharif at Jamia Hadiqtul Uloom Peshawar, Sirajul Haq said the interest-based economy and capitalism were the roots of all evil.

Pakistan, he said, could not go ahead with the prevailing economic system and there was dire need to introduce usuary free financial model. He held the PPP and the PML-N equally responsible along with the ruling PTI for selling out the nation’s freedom against dollars. He said the ruling elite could not dare to say no to the IMF and World Bank. He said three parties burdened the nation with massive debts, main reasons behind the destruction of economy and skyrocketing inflation and unemployment.

Sirajul Haq expressed grief over martyrs of the security persons in Balochistan. He said India wanted to destabilize Pakistan and there was dire need to thwart the enemy’s design.

The JI chief said the ruling party was openly violating the rules of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in second phase of the local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the defeat of the PTI in the polls was written on the wall. He demanded the ECP take notice of the violations of the PTI in the elections, saying the government was using all the tactics to save it from defeat.

He highlighted the need of unity among the ranks of Ummah, requesting the religious scholars to play their role for it. He said madris were the fortresses of Islam and the protectors of the ideological boundaries of the country. He said the government should fix amount for the welfare of religious seminaries in the educational budget
