Govt & establishment should hold national consultation in connection with Balochistan if wanted to save Pakistan: Sirajul Haq

QUETTA, May 21 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that government of Pakistan has left the people on the mercy of armed people which is an indicative that it has badly failed in providing security and safety to the lives and assets of the people.

Sirajul Haq expressed these views while addressing a press conference in Quetta on Sunday. He was also accompanied by Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi and other leaders.

He further said who was responsible for such a deteriorated situation of the country and deplored that central and provincial governments were not focusing on the issues of Balochistan. He said they failed in providing security and safety to the lives and assets of the masses.

He remarked, “I want to ask the government of Pakistan as well as establishment that if you want to safeguard the country and do not want to convert Pakistan into Sudan, Libya and Syria then there is need of holding national consultation in connection with Balochistan. He said who cannot provide peace to the masses, has no justification to govern.”

He said, “I faced suicide attack. Thanking God my companions remained safe. How this incident occurred. Who is involved in this regard. I want to know the facts being a citizen of the country. People of Pakistan also want to know about it. I urge the government to investigate the incident and bring the facts before the masses. When I reached Zhob, people asked why I did not use bulletproof vehicle. I replied bulletproof vehicle is not a solution to the issue but the nation needs peace.”

Sirajul Haq furthered Balochistan is actually Pakistan and added if Balochistan will prosper the country will develop. He deplored that a province which is full of resources was burning and added that the province has been converted into a heap of ammunition.

A common citizen of Balochistan was deprived of water while the capable young individuals were longing for the employments, adding there is no gas, electricity, business or business opportunities. Law and order situation has converted the province a not worth living place.

Sirajul Haq said that the government has yet to update on whether an investigation has been opened on the recent suicide attack on him. The JI Emir reminded that it is the responsibility of the incumbent government to investigate the attack on him and lay out the facts before the public. He expressed hope that the government will fulfill its responsibility.

Commenting on the prevailing political situation in the country, Sirajul Haq informed that his party has joined hands with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Karachi wing and both parties intend on forming a joint local government in the metropolis.

Sirajul Haq further added that political parties have condemned incidents of violent protests witnessed on May 9. He maintained, “We are also not in support of politics expressed through rioting and vandalism.”

He added that it is the job of the government to bring such protestors to justice. However, Sirajul Haq clarified, he is not in support of military trials of the civilians. The government holds the authority to gather people for talks and negotiations, he added.

The JI leader further stated that the US has no right to interfere in Pakistan’s matters. “When people fight in their homes, neighbours do talk. But America has no right to interfere in Pakistan’s matters,” he said.
