GHQ approves premature retirement of Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed
RAWALPINDI, Nov 28 (SABAH): Former Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Corps Commander Bahawalpur Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has taken retirement prematurely from his service on Monday.
Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed had sent his resignation to General Headquarters (GHQ) which was accepted immediately and all the relevant process was completed on Monday.
However, according to a private TV channel, the news of taking pre-mature retirement by Lt. General Azhar Abbas or any other general could not be verified.
The move came after the appointment of General Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah as Chief of the Army Staff and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed, who was currently serving as Bahawalpur Corps Commander, was due to retire in April 2023 while. Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed has served from 16th June 2019 to 19th November 2021 as 24th DG ISI. It is worth mentioning here that the name of Faiz Hameed was included in the list of the six Lieutenant Generals, which was sent to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for the appointment of new CJCSC and COAS.
