Funeral prayer in absentia for Professor Khurshid Ahmad offered at Faisal Mosque

ISLAMABAD, April 15 (SABAH): The funeral prayer in absentia for former Deputy Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Professor Khurshid Ahmad was held at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad. A large number of people, including political, social, legal, media, literary and academic personalities, as well as citizens, attended the prayer.

The funeral prayer was led by former Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Sirajul Haq. Those in attendance included former PML-N Chairman Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq, former information and broadcasting minister Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Deputy Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Mian Muhammad Aslam, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, former Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir Abdul Rashid Turabi, Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa, and others.

Addressing the gathering before the funeral prayer, former Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, said: “Today, we have come to attend the funeral of an intellectual personality, the late Professor Khurshid Ahmad. May Allah forgive him. Intellectuals are remembered long after they pass away. Professor Khurshid was a name synonymous with ideological commitment; he struggled for the Muslim Ummah and guided it through his work. Today, people from all walks of life are expressing their condolences on his passing. Even today, the world respects intellectual personalities beyond biases.”

He further stated, “The idea of the Islamic University was also the brainchild of Professor Khurshid Ahmad. He was the right-hand man of Syed Abul A’la Maududi. He served as a member of the Senate three times and fought — and won — the case for the rightful electricity profits of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Those working for the welfare of humanity are the true heirs of Professor Khurshid Ahmad. Even ordinary people felt elevated in his presence.”
