Full court bench should set guidelines for reform of justice system in light of national opinion: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, Nov 20 (SABAH): Naib Emir Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan, Secretary General Milli Yakjehti Council, Liaqat Baloch has said that he welcomes the decision of the Chief Justice to take the public opinion for judicial reforms and improve the justice system.

Liaqat Baloch while talking about the surrender of Election Commission and administration to the PPP provincial government in the local by-elections in Sindh, Karachi said that in weakening democracy and making elections meaningless, the parliamentary system, the process of democratic elections and the Constitution, the judiciary, and the justice system are destroyed by the political facilitators, adding PPP, Muslim League and MQM are also facilitators in the current system.

Several commissions and committees have been formed earlier to reform the judicial system and the suggestions will still come, he said and added the Jamaat-e-Islami will also give recommendations on the legal system with the advice of legal experts.

He further said if the Chief Justice of Pakistan arranges to hear the recommendations by forming a bench consisting of all the judges of the Supreme Court and instead of putting matters on the committees and the government for the reform of the justice system, the full court bench should set guidelines in the light of national opinion otherwise, matters will remain pending.

For the sake of the Constitution, democracy and the independence of the judiciary, the national democratic leadership has to give up the politics of interests and play a national political role, he said.

Separately, Liaqat Baloch said in a meeting with the youth delegation that Israel and India are breaking mountains of oppression on the people of Palestine and Kashmir.

Along with bombing and genocide, the illegal occupying forces are also doing target killing, he said and added after the recent Islamic summit held in Riyadh, no major action has yet emerged, which has led to further Israeli-Zionist cruelties.

Liaqat Baloch said that meeting of central committee of Milli Yekjehti Council has been convened on Nov 21, 2024 in Islamabad.
