Full court bench of SC should hear the proceedings of Punjab & KP elections case: Azam Nazeer Tara
ISLAMABAD, Mar 31 (SABAH): Minister for Law and Justice Senator Chaudhry Azam Nazeer Tarar Advocate has urged country’s institutions to utilize collective wisdom to resolve prevailing crisis including economic, political and constitutional.
While talking to media persons outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan along with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Azam Nazeer Tarar was of the opinion that a full court bench of the Supreme Court should hear the proceedings of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections case.
The Law Minister also urged the political leadership of the country to use the window of dialogue to overcome political polarization.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said that we never refused holding dialogues, adding that the minority judgments will further increase the crisis, adding that such verdict be delivered which should be beneficial for the future politics. He said that today’s proceedings of the court are in front of us, adding that 9-member bench was converted into 5-member bench and four judges clarified that the petition has been dismissed. He said that important case hearing is going on in the Supreme Court, adding that today Justice Jamal Khan Mandhokhail has recused himself.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said that it would have been better if the full court was formed to hear this matter, adding that half apex court is saying that this matter should be resolved in the high court. He said that the chief justice should convene full court meeting, adding that it is hoped that good news will come on Monday. He said that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has summoned an important meeting today (Saturday), adding that the coalition parties will chalk out the future strategy. He said that all the matters should be resolved through negotiations, adding that the country is facing constitutional crisis and in this regard the legislation has been carried out in the parliament.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said that half the Supreme Courts thinks that the matter should be heard by the full court, adding that we are hopeful that Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial will consider these matters.
Meanwhile Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said a full court of the Supreme Court be constituted to hear the case regarding elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking to the media outside Supreme Court in Islamabad on Friday, she said we are not opposed to the hearing of the case but it should be decided through a collective wisdom.
The Information Minister said it is not the democratic forces but PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who is running away from the elections. She regretted that Imran Khan wants chaos and anarchy in the country.
