Freedom struggle of Syed Ali Shah Geelani is a golden chapter in the history of Kashmiri freedom movement: PM Shehbaz
ISLAMABAD, Sep 01 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has paid glowing tributes to Hurriyat leader late Syed Ali Shah Geelani on his first martyrdom anniversary.
In a statement on Thursday, PM Shehbaz Sharif said the title of Baba-e-Hurriyat for Syed Ali Geelani by Kashmiris is an acknowledgement of his historic struggle.
He said the freedom struggle of Iron Man Syed Ali Geelani is a golden chapter in the history of Kashmiri freedom movement.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said Syed Ali Geelani is not an individual but the name of a movement and a mission whose slogan is Kashmir will become Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said by taking away the body of Syed Ali Geelani, the yearning of Kashmiris for freedom cannot be suppressed. He said Geelani’s slogan of ‘we are Pakistanis, Pakistan is ours, is echoing all over the world.
The Prime Minister prayed for all the martyrs of Kashmir including Syed Ali Geelani and the grant of patience to the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, in a tweet o n Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani personified the very essence of Kashmiris’ struggle.
He said Geelani powered the resistance movement with belief in the idea of freedom from Indian yoke.
He said Syed Ali Geelani remains as relevant to the freedom struggle today as he was in life. He said that Syed Ali Geelani is not an individual but the name of movement and mission, whose slogan is Kashmir will become Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistanis and Kashmiris present salute to Syed Ali Geelani. He said that the slogan “Ham Pakistani Hain, Pakistan Hamara Hai” is loudly being heard in the whole world today. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that while snatching the dead body of Martyred Syed Ali Geelani, the vigor of Kashmiris for the freedom could not be snatched.
PM Shehbaz Sharif prayed higher status in heaven for all the martyrs of Kashmir including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and courage for the bereaved families. Ameen.
