Four public holidays on Eidul Azha while banks to remain closed for six days
ISLAMABAD, June 22 (SABAH): There would four public holidays whereas banks will remain closed for six days on Eidul Azha as the eid holidays announced by the government have coincided with Sunday and the first working day of July (Monday), which is also observed as a bank holiday.
Prior to this the government has announced three holidays; however on Thursday, the Prime Minister Office issued new notification while announcing four holidays.
According to the notification, in supersession of earlier order of the even number dates 20,06,2023, on the above subject, the Prime Minister has been pleased to approve the public holidays on the occasion of Eidul Azha as follows:
i. 28th, 29th, & 30th June, 2023, (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) for the officers observing five days working in a week; and,
ii. 28th June to 1st July, 2023 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday) for the officers observing six days working in a week.
2. Further necessary action shall be taken accordingly.
The notification has been issued by Special Secretary to the Prime Minister Sarah Saeed on Thursday.
Earlier on Thursday the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in a statement announced that it will remain closed on the 29th & 30th of June 2023 (Thursday & Friday) being public holidays on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
Although not announced by the central bank yet, the first working day of July is always observed as Bank Holiday. All banks/ DFIs/ MFBs remain closed for public dealings on the aforesaid date.
