Former govt of PTI headed by Imran Khan pushed country towards economic swamp: Maulana Fazl

LAHORE, Sep 7 (SABAH): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Thursday that former government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) headed by Imran Khan pushed the country towards economic swamp.

While addressing the Khatme Nabuwat Conference held under the auspices of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said only Pakistan is being pressurized in the world to take back the constitutional amendments and added such a attitude is not being shown with any other Islamic country.

Taking a dig at PTI, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, “The PTI was imposed on the country to weaken the country in terms of its economy.” He noted that the government which was imposed in 2018 had a particular agenda and added its motif was to hand over Kashmir to India and recognize Israel. That government pushed the country towards economic swamp, he deplored.

Maulana Fazalur Rehman remarked, “I am not seeing that any coming government will be able to take the country out of this swamp. At first, economical instability was brought and disorder and anarchy were created in the country but continued solidarity. The people needed to understand all these matters.”

“Scholars see interests in recognizing Israel but they don’t see cruelties and barbaric acts being committed by Israel against Palestinians.  No country including India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Iran are pressurized with regard to their economies excluding Pakistan,” he noted. The JUI-F supremo said all those countries which had good relations with Pakistan were not helping it and demanding that previous government be brought again into power.

Speaking to the media persons in Lahore, Maulana Fazlur Rehman underscored the importance of the immediate elections, saying, “There is a dire need to hold elections immediately to steer the country out of the quagmire.”
