Formation of commission for inquiry on letter written by six judges of IHC is not acceptable: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, March 31 (SABAH): Acting Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Liaqat Baloch has said that after meeting of Prime Minister and Chief Justice of Pakistan, initiative of formation of commission for inquiry on the  letter written by six judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC) is not acceptable. He said the matter of inquiry of interference in duties of judges of superior court demands direct judicial decision but not inquiry commission.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Liaqat Baloch said that there is no doubt that Tassadaq Hussaion Geelani is a reputable name, able and expert personality but the matter for which he has been appointed, Supreme Court itself is a most suitable place for solution of this matter.

In the past, he said, a number of inquiry, fact finding commissions were established for investigation of such matters but they proved to be fruitless. Then decisions in the wait of implementation buried in files and history and the situation kept on worsening. He said powerful state institutions are victim of particular mindset due to which elections, parliament, assemblies and government system are not working.

Liaqat Baloch further said February 8, 2024 elections have badly exposed every aspect due to which everyone seems helpless, adding these circumstances have become risk for national security. He said that relationship between the people and Armed Forces of Pakistan has reached to its lowest position which should be ended by all the stakeholders. He said for every illegal and unconstitutional act there is need of oppressed judiciary which has been portrayed by the six judges.

It is need of state, politics and restoration of justice system that instead of ignoring complaint of six judges the Supreme Judicial Council should conduct hearing on complaints of six judges or full court bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan conduct hearing which would put forth each and every aspect and there would be provided a strong base for rectification.
