Forensic report of mobile phone recovered from possession of suspect in case related to assassination attempt on Imran Khan surfaces
LAHORE, Jan 07 (SABAH): A forensic report of a mobile phone recovered from the possession of a suspect in a case related to assassination attempt on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan surfaces.
According to media reports, the PTI chief came under the attack in October last in Wazirabad when firing was opened at his container during the party’s long march against the government. Following the incident, police arrested a suspect, identified as Naveed Bashir, who later confessed to targeting Imran Khan.
The forensic revealed that experts were unable to recover the deleted data from his mobile phone. It said the suspect was using SIMs of two telecom companies, adding that 138 contact numbers had been recovered from his phone. The forensic officials have found the record of 1,869 calls, 337 messages, 212 videos and 1,956 photos from the device.
It further said 449 calls were made from Naveed’s phone. The record of his mobile phone has been handed over to the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the assassination bid on Imran Khan.
In the JIT report, the investigators mentioned that the experts that ran the forensic scans on the accused’s handheld device also came across a strange contact name “Na Hai, Na Ho Ga, Na Rahe Ji”.
According to the forensic report, the SIM cards of two mobile operators were recovered from the phone.
