Five policemen including DSP Abdul Malik Bhutto martyred, four injured near Mirpur Mathelo area in Ghotki district


GHOTKI/KARACHI, Nov 06 (SABAH): At least five policemen including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and two station House Officers (SHOs) were martyred and four others were injured in encounter with bandits in katcha area of Mirpur Mathelo in Ghotki district of Sindh on Sunday.

According to police, DSP Obaro, Abdul Malik Bhutto and two SHOs Deen Muhammad Laghari and Abdul Malik Kamangar and two policemen Salim Chachar and Jatoi Patafi embraced martyrdom during the gun battle. Meanwhile SHO Ronti Police Station Ghulam Ali Barohi, constables Aftab Bhutto, Muharram Barohi and guard of DSP Obaro, police constable Mumtaz Soomro were injured.

Later on the funeral prayers of the martyred police officials were offered at Police Lines Mirpur Mathelo. The funeral prayers were attended by politicians, rangers’ and police officers and officials and a large number of local people. After offering funeral prayers, the guard of honour was presented to the martyred police officials by police contingent. Later on the dead bodies of the police officials were dispatched to their native areas.

SSP Ghokti Tanveer Hussain Tunio said that dacoits had latest weapons; however, police operation against them is underway.

He further said that cops are in high spirits and operation will continue against these bandits. Policemen just like Pakistan Army and Rangers is willing to sacrifice their lives for the country, he added. He said that the operation will continue against over 100 criminals.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has summoned the report of the incident from IG Police Sindh. Chief minister Sindh said how this incident occurred, comprehensive report should be presented to him, adding that he just wanted to see the perpetrators behind the bars. CM Sindh has issued direction for carrying out full fledge operation against the dacoits. He said that the sacrifices of the police in restoration of law and order are unforgettable, adding that he salutes to the martyred officers and officials of police.

Meanwhile Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned an attack on police party by criminals at Kacha area in Ghotki.

In a statement issued from Media Cell Bilawal House on Sunday, Bilawal Bhutto expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of five police officials including the DSP and two SHOs in the incident.

He saluted to martyrs DSP Abdul Malik Bhutto, SHOs Deen Muhammad Laghari and Abdul Malik Kamangar and two policemen Shaheed Salim Chachar and Shaheed Jatoi for sacrificing their lives in the line of duty.

The Minister prayed for the speedy recovery of SHO Ghulam Ali Brohi and other injured cops.

Meanwhile, PPP Co-Chairman and former President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the attack and condoled with the bereaved families of the slain policemen.
