Five names have been short-listed for the position of caretaker PM, including political figures: Khurshid Shah


KARACHI/ISLAMABAD, July 30 (SABAH): Federal Minister for Water Resources Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah said on Sunday that assemblies will be dissolved on August 9. In addition to the dissolution of the National Assembly, both the Sindh and Balochistan assemblies will be dissolved on the same date, August 9, said PPP leader.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, the PPP leader asserted that general elections will be held in the country three months after the dissolution of the National Assembly.

Regarding the formation of a caretaker government, Khurshid Shah revealed that five names have been short-listed for the position of caretaker prime minister, including political figures.

Meanwhile in an interview with a private TV channel Syed Khurshid Shah said that one meeting of the committee formed for the appointment of caretaker PM has been held, adding that the second meeting will be held today (Monday). Khurshid Shah said that we have discuss only two things one the timing of the dissolution of the assemblies and second appointment of non-political caretaker PM. Khurshid Shah that the politician is needed for the post of caretaker PM as political people will make political decisions.

Khurshid Shah said that we have agreed that the elections should be held in three months time, adding that it has been decided to hold the next elections on old census. He said that so far no discussion has been held with PML-N regarding seat adjustment in elections. Khurshid Shah said that it will be an effort of every political party to win the elections with majority and form the government.

Replying a question, Khurshid Shah said that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif should return back to Pakistan prior to next elections as he has no need to stay abroad anymore. He said that Nawaz Sharif should return back and should lead the country as a leader and should also lead his party. He said that it did not suit Nawaz Sharif to become the candidate of PM as he is above the position of PM. Replying a question, Khurshid Shah said that PPP is not in favor of excluding the PTI from election process.
