Federal ombudsman Kashmala Tariq dismisses DG PEMRA
ISLAMABAD, Nov 04 (SABAH): Federal Ombudsman for Protection Against Harassment Kashmala Tariq decided the sexual harassment complaint and imposed major penalty of dismissal from service and 20 lac fine on DG Admin & HR (PEMRA). Whereas, co-accused GM Chairman Office is imposed with the penalty of one step demotion and 5 lac fine.
The complainant filed an online complaint to this forum on 20-01-2020. She alleged that DG Admin & HR (PEMRA) demanded sexual favor and after her refusal, accused turned his behavior as rude and demeaning. Complainant already sent her complaint to Chairman PEMRA but no action was taken by the department. Accused was threatening her to face the dire consequences, including termination from service.
After filing of complaint, this forum suspended the accused (DG Admin & HR). After suspension, the accused challenged the suspension order twice in Islamabad High Court and twice in representation to the President House, the main reason of delay in deciding this complaint.
That the allegation of harassment has been proved against the accused DG Admin & HR (PEMRA) and is imposed upon major penalty of dismissal from service and fine of Rs. 20 lac as a compensation for the complainant.
Whereas co-accused was also imposed upon major penalty of reduction to lower post with fine of Rs 5 lac. Direction was also issued to the PEMRA top management to constitute permanent harassment committee and also install CCTV cameras on the conspicuous places.
Federal ombudsman has directed concerned authority to submit report after implementation of orders.
