Farida Behanji urges the G20 countries to boycott the G20 Working Group meeting hosted by India in J&K, a disputed region
SRINAGAR, April 29 (SABAH): Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Chairperson of Mass Movement in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Farida Behanji has urged the G20 countries to boycott the G20 Working Group meeting hosted by India in Jammu and Kashmir, a disputed region. According to United Nations resolutions, Jammu and Kashmir is a recognized disputed territory and India’s holding such a meeting in a disputed territory is a violation of the UN Charter and international law, she said.
In her ongoing statement, Farida Behanje expressed concern over the increase in atrocities on Kashmiris under the guise of the G20 meeting and said that Srinagar has been turned into a military cantonment due to strict security, and mass arrests of people are ongoing.
She said that on the one hand, India is trying to give the impression to the world that the situation in Kashmir is normal, on the other hand, it has by deploying more than 900,000 of its forces there, it is making the life of Kashmiris haram.
Senior APHC leader questioned that if according to the claim of the Modi government, the situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is normal, then why has India deployed more than 900,000 troops there?
Farida Behanje said that the Modi government has started serious violations of human rights in India and Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on a large scale, especially by denying all the basic rights of Kashmiris have gone and the Modi government is now trying to mislead the international community by covering them up with the G20 event in Srinagar.
She has demanded that countries that believe in the supremacy of human rights should boycott the G20 event in Srinagar. She has urged the international community to take notice of the ongoing Indian state terrorism against Kashmiris and put pressure on India to give them their fundamental right of self-determination.
