Even today it is possible to control the dollar price in Pakistan: Ishaq Dar
LONDON, Sep 17 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and former finance minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has said that even today it is possible to control the dollar price in Pakistan. He said that the dollar price should be brought down, adding that he is talking while becoming apolitical that dollar price should be brought down as Pakistan and Pakistani masses could not afford high price of dollar. He said that we have increased the debt of country in billions of dollars while depreciating the rupee price.
This was stated by Muhammad Ishaq Dar in an interview with a private TV channel. Ishaq Dar said that we have become hostage in the hands of some and people and speculators, adding that these people have earned millions and billions of rupees but did not think that Pakistan’s debt has been increased by trillion of rupees. He said that the dollar price is not Rs 240 but the real price of dollar should be Rs 170 or Rs 180.
Ishaq Dar said that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will meet former PM Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif today (Sunday) in London, adding that he will also attend the meeting. Ishaq Dar said that his plan of return back to Pakistan will be finalized soon; adding that party has permitted him to return back but his lawyers have not permitted him. Ishaq Dar said that Imran Khan’s government had cancelled his passport in 2018, adding that the current government after coming into power issued his passport in April and he received it in May. He said that there should be decency in the politics.
Ishaq Dar said that his name was not included in Panama papers and JIT, adding that false allegation was leveled against him that he has not submitted the tax returns for 20 years from 1981 to 2001. Ishaq Dar said that even he did not late submission of the tax returns for 20 minutes, adding that two former chief justices have given legal opinion that case against him could be quashed in just 10 to 15 minutes arguments.
Ishaq Dar said that India is purchasing cheap oil and gas from Russia and West has not imposed any restrictions on India, adding that same attitude should be meted out towards Pakistan. He said that if Pakistan secures 20 or 30 percent cheaper oil and gas from Russia then it will be very beneficial for us. He said that if we are able to secure cheaper oil and gas from Russia and dollar price is also brought down then it will be a big relief for the masses.
