Establishment of lasting peace in South Asia linked to the resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute: Mohsin Naqvi


ISLAMABAD, August 05 (SABAH): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi met Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq at the Ministry of Interior. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and the law and order situation were discussed.

On the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal, Mohsin Naqvi and Anwarul Haq expressed complete solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and condemned India’s illegal actions on August 5, 2019, in strong terms. They added that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan.

Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that India had blatantly violated UN resolutions and international laws by abolishing Article 370 and 35(A), exploiting Kashmiris in the worst possible way. He stated that curfew and Section 144 have been imposed in occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the past five years, adding that in the past five years, thousands of innocent Kashmiris have been martyred, including children, elderly, and women. He said that the entire nation is observing Youm-e-Istehsal today with determination. He underscored that the establishment of lasting peace in South Asia is linked to the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir said that on August 5, India’s ugly face was exposed to the world, adding that international organizations and international media, have been barred from entering Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that now is the time for the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to address the injustices and atrocities in IIOJK. During the meeting, Federal Minister for Interior assured his full cooperation for maintenance of peace and public order in Azad Kashmir. He said that ample support has been provided for establishing peace in Azad Kashmir in the past and would continue to do so in the future as well. He stated that the security requirements of Azad Kashmir will be fulfilled.

Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir thanked Federal Minister of Interior for his cooperation towards peace and development in the AJK.
